On the 30th July until the 20th August, Freya Goodsir and Bryan Thompson will set off on the journey of a life time and undertake a 21 day adventure in the remote regions of Peru. Our adventure will include our experiences of this amazing country, photos, blogs and personal thoughts will all be documented in this website. The Peru Encompassed tour is to include the following:Departing from Heathrow on the morning of the 30th we fly to Charles de Gaul airport, and catch our connecting 10 and a half our flight to Lima, Peru.

Day 1 : Lima - Explore the gardens and beaches of Miraflores. Take a trip to Kennedy Park, Park de Amor and go shopping at the Larcomar shopping centre. Visit the Monasterio de San Francisco and explore the catacombs containing hundreds of human remains.

Day 2 : Wander the streets of Lima, before heading to Pisco, the perfect place to unwind with a Pisco sour (Peru's national cocktail).

Day 3 + 4 : Take a trip to the Parcas National Reserve, a haven for Pelican, Red Footed Boobies, Flamingo's and Sea Lions. See the dramatic sand dunes of Huacachina and try 'Sand Boarding'. Then head to one of the worlds most famous, mysterious archaeological sites - The Nazca Lines, and take a flight over them. Then head to the desert cemetery of Chauchilla - and see the disseminated remains of the graves of the people who once lived and died there.

Day 5 : Arequipa - A major city in Peru, built at the foot of a now dormant volcano. Marvel at the colonial buildings made from gleaming, pale volcanic rock.

Day 6 + 7 : Chivay/Colca Canyon - Spot Lamas, Alpacas and Vicunas on the way to Chivay. Be impressed by the depth of the canyon while keeping an eye out for Condors flying overhead. In the evening, relax in a thermal bath, dine on a Lama steak, or listen to live Andean music at a Pena. Experience traditional local life staying with a family on a homestay in Colca Canyon.

Day 8 - 10 : Puno/Lake Titicaca - Cross the Andes and explore the vast expanse of Lake Titicaca. Visit the floating Uros Islands and learn about traditional island culture during a homestay with a local family.

Day 11 - 12 : Cusco - Explore the Inca ruins of Sacsayhuaman in the continents oldest city. Then perhaps take a local bus to explore to the Sacred Valley or have lunch Aldea Yanapay cafe.

Day 13 - 16 :  Inca Trail (Please read a detailed description on the seperate Inca Trail Page)
Day 17 : Cusco - Enjoy free time to relax, shop and explore more of Cusco's sites. Rest weary legs at a cafe on Plaza De Armas.

Day 18 - 19 : Amazon Jungle - Travel to Puerto Maldonado. We then take a motorized canoe up river , have lunch and travel to our lodge in the Madre de Dios area. We then head into the jungle with our local guide and experience magnificent fauna and flora in their natural habitats and learn about there medicinal properties and the practical uses of plants.

Day 20 - 21 :  Lima - a midday flight takes us back to Lima - some more time to explore Lima and unwind before heading home.
